Mr. Nolan has developed a variety of different skill sets necessary for succeeding in business. Starting as a Naval Aviator and later a being National Geographic bush pilot, he subsequently distinguished himself in the fields of high-tech sales, educator, author, and public speaker. He is a high profile motivational seminar leader with a successful track-record in franchise business development.
As Founder/President of Criste Corporation, he led a national franchised chain restaurant development (Schlotzsky's Deli) company as the system wide sales leader with 314 unit sales to his credit. He is also credited for turning around four of the worst performing stores for Schlotzsky's system into the top 5 percent performing stores while further increasing revenues and profits in those stores for three consecutive years. He was one of the largest AD's in SI system and originated 64 stores in 10 states.
A born marketer and sales professional, Mr. Nolan was able to combine his early technology exposure in computer hardware sales and systems design skills with optical character recognition technology (Scan Optics) to convince Ross Perot of EDS to purchase its first non-IBM equipment configuration. This stunning sale by Nolan for Scan-Optics landed him in the Wall Street Journal, Computer World, and Electronic News. His opportunity and horizons increased by the good fortune of meeting W. Clement Stone, a billionaire famous for co-developing the PMA (positive mental attitude) philosophy. Mr. Stone personally invited Mr. Nolan to join his organization to educate developing entrepreneurs. Mr. Nolan became the national seminar leader and was promoted to Director of Education for Mr. Stones' Entrepreneurship Forums in Chicago. Leveraging his speaking, presentation skills, sales, leadership and real estate investment skills, he later joined the Lowry Group as a national platform speaker, instructor and was soon promoted to the role of Special Assistant to the Chairman creating and producing the nations largest and most successful real estate education seminar company. As co-host of television and radio programs produced with Dr. Albert J. Lowry, he was instrumental in increasing annual sales more than three fold. He traveled and shared the stage as a speaker with many other well known personalities including Bob Harrington (the Chaplin of Bourbon Street), Zig Ziglar Mike & Irene Milan, Dave Del Dotto, Jay Mitton Esq. providing motivational and educational presentations for corporate conventions, general public audiences and professional organizations.
Business education seminar development and his creative "out of the box" prospecting has become a forte for Mr. Nolan. He also had created unique distribution channels for prepaid legal services by forming strategic partnerships with highly respected law firms, financial planners, wealth advisors, bank trust departments, and insurance brokerage networks resulting in significant new business. He's been featured in many business publications including INC. magazine for developing legal plans for consumers and small business owners. Strengthening his role as an entrepreneurial business educator, Mr. Nolan became a subject matter expert on franchising, estate planning, new business start-ups, asset and lawsuit protection via his “Personal Entity Structuring” seminars. These programs have been highly attended, profitable, and respected by the many different constituents, including law firms specializing in estate planning, financial planners and advisors, CPA's and major insurance companies. Mr. Nolan is a regularly featured speaker at universities hosting entrepreneurship programs.
Finally, he has gained experience serving on variety of Boards of Directors. Mr. Nolan consults with Franchisors providing development expertise in franchising innovation, real estate site selection, area development and franchise unit sales. He was previously an active member in the Cincinnati Rotary Club. Mr. Nolan is currently a published author with his book entitled ‘Franchise Purchasing Guide and Workbook” and is writing two new books, one on leadership development (entitled Paradigms in Perspective) through complementary collaboration, and a second book on sales prospecting and area development for franchised businesses (entitled Third Party Franchising). Mr. Nolan serves as an Advisory Board Member for The National Association of Entrepreneurship headquartered in Washington D.C. he also serves on the Board for A.A.P. (Association Affinity Programs).
